Does prayer work and what power does it hold? This is my testament. Soul… Phantom … Spirit… Ghost… whatever the word, the phenomena is the same. To seek this realm of darkness requires a true dedication and understanding of what it takes to walk amongst the shadows. Many will try to comprehend a basic belief due to personal experience, what is witnessed within Hollywood films and/or reality TV. To fully identify with the souls of the departed while doing authentic paranormal investigations one needs only to be touched by the hands of death to not only show true empathy but to experience an event of their lives from their eyes. Few paranormal investigators do cleansings or blessings and probably for good reason. I was very skeptical doing our own and even I felt that it was mind-over matter. Our clients seeing us going through the motions and rituals eased their minds and made things better; after all, there was no scientific proof the cleansings and blessings actually worked. How wrong was I to think that our energy levels, our empathy, our willingness to open ourselves up to the possibility of the afterlife could not possibly have an effect on the spirit realm? Spirits can see us, interact with us, hear us, feel us and so can we with them. This is my story and how the soul of a woman I never met will forever have an effect on my life, for a part of her will always remain with me.
The home seemed A-typical, located on a comfortable street within one of America’s well known cities. Single story with full basement and walk in attic. The owners told us of amazing spiritual encounters that included audible voices, shadows at bed side, red glowing eyes, floors creaking where no one resides. The family has children but not of human nature. They take in and rescue rabbits. Their love for bunnies is unparalleled with having a world-renowned rabbit doctor to care for them when sick.
This case was interesting since it was our first ever to involve rabbits. Rabbits are very sensitive and when they sense danger…they start thumping the ground to warn others of the impending danger. There were items in the house being moved and activity seemed to grow when renovations began in the home. Each time the walls were tore into, the rabbits would thump. The more they renovated, the more the rabbits pleaded with the family of the danger that was present. There was an angry soul lurking within the walls of this comfortable home.
The rabbits were being blinded by the spirits and two were killed. Once the vet verified that there was no logical reason for the bunnies to die over nothing and having a previous investigative team come in and capture “Where’s the bunnies” on EVP, the conclusion was final. The spirit had claimed its first two victims and what was next?
Our initial investigation proved spirit activity with evidence pointing to spirits by the names of “Lisa” and “Harold”. Once this home was attempted to be cleansed, I was personally attacked in the attic. It was the first time that this ever had happened to me. The feeling inside the attic was heavy and humid. As I was reciting my blessing I hit a wall of anxiety with chills and sweat. My knees were weak and I was being forced out of the area and not being allowed to finish the prayer. I pushed through the ordeal to complete the task and could actually feel the atmosphere completely lift, giving a new sense of hope and comfort for the family. For our job was now done or was it?
After a year of incredible evidence and constant monitoring of our client we come to the last of our investigations. Our focus after learning that there was a Lisa inside the home with a child that was possibly murdered was solely on them. So it began. Throughout the night on ghost radio, the name of the home owner, Lisa and the handyman Harold came across. The most interesting was an EVP that said “Help me upstairs”. Warnings of “Demon” would come across the ghost radio. We did not heed the warning. I was the only member being completely personal with Lisa by telling her things such as “It’s ok sweetheart” and “You no longer have to be scared” and “we’re here to help you” with actually meaning it. We were there to remove the evil and release the tormented souls under its control.
After walking through the home and conducting our cleansing and blessing we arrive in the attic. We had chased everything into the immediate area and my life altering event was about to happen.
As I stepped into the dimly lit attic with a handful of members that are true family to me, I would not have wanted any others by my side this day for without their immediate strength and guidance…I would not be able to share this story today. As I start my lengthy Catholic prayer for not only binding demonic forces against all earthly things but covering everyone living and deceased with protection from Gods most faithful guardian angel warriors…something begins to happens. I start to gasp for air. My breathing and heart rate is raised. My legs become weak. My voice is shaky. My body begins to have uncontrollable tremors and holding the prayer candle now becomes my main focus. As the candle blows out….the most raw of emotions over takes my entire body and thought. Pure hatred, complete loneliness, utter dread, deep sadness, immediate fear and unimaginable confusion are not my feelings but that of Lisa’s soul and her showing me what her torment has been for so many years. Lisa was using me as an instrument to pass on to a more forgiving world with happiness, warmth, and redemption. Everyone in the attic was affected and the energy that she had given off was tremendous and beyond any comprehension. Once we left the attic and made it into the living room area other members along with the home owners could feel a difference within the home and felt how everything lifted. Her emotion was still in me as I dropped to a chair and completely broke down as all of her emotion was released from me. This affected me for a long time. I could not speak to anyone about what had happened and to this day, I still have the raw emotion come flooding back if I think about it too long. I will forever be affected and touched by the spirit realm and by the soul of a woman that picked me for her salvation and remembrance. I do look at cleansings and blessing in a different light now and tread very thin with a very protective attitude for each one since this case.
This case taught the members involved something about animals, something about spirits and something about themselves. For the true skeptic, come take our hand and walk in our shoes for you will experience a taste of eternal consciousness. Only then will you believe in the shadows you see in the darkness, for they are real.
